Methodological approaches to the definition of social and economic stability (including substantively similar terms such as “sustainability” and “progressiveness”, “balance”, etc.) are analyzed in the paper. The authors’ interpretation of the category was elaborated. A method of calculating the integral indicator of the stability of socio-economic development, based on an assessment of the rate of change of the process parameters was developed and tested.
