The modern concepts of molecular and genetic mechanisms of circadian rhythms generation are described; the literature on the relationship of physiological functions of the cardiovascular system with circadian rhythms, as well as molecular genetic and biochemical mechanisms of circadian genes influence on the development of cardiovascular pathologies, is reviewed. Published data on the role of single nucleotide substitutions in the circadian genes in the etiology and pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases are analyzed.
