The possible solutions of an inverse problem of the component balance in rocks and ores (i.e. how to calculate the component concentrations in mineral phases provided the component concentrations and weight parts of phases in rocks and ores)
are suggested in the paper. Three methods (average values m., consecutive approximation m. and the least squares m.) developed thanks to author's discussions with Prof. V.M. Izoitko are considered. The real examples of calculations are given.
