Laboratory of Geology, Technology and Economics of Mineral Products of the Institute of Geology studies some Karelian industrial minerals such as apatite-bearing carbonatites and pyroxenites, nepheline syenites, olivinites (Tikshozero-Yeletozero
alkaline complex, Louhi District), anorthosites from the Kotozero massif, muscovitic quartzites and garnetiferous rocks that also occur in North Karelia.
