The results of mineralogical and technological study of quartz as a raw material from two Karelian localities, such as viened highly mineralized quartz from the Melomais prospect and veined milky quartz from the Fenkina-Lampi prospect, considered nonconventional types of quartz for the production of highly pure quartz concentrates, are reported. The typomorphic characters of quartz that affect its dressability, e.g. the types, concentration and distribution of mineral impurities, the structural and textural characteristics of the rock and the concentration and distribution of fluid inclusions, are discussed in detail.
