Movement parameters of the rheotactic response of juvenile Atlantic salmon from two phenotypic aggregations which had formed after the dispersal of fry from closely situated spawning redds were tested under experimental conditions. It was showed that occupation of micro habitats with different hydrological parameters depends on by the rheotactic response of the fry. Part of them demonstrated higher ability to resist water currents and occupied sites with high current velocities. Obviously, it may eventually affect the rate of accumulation of phenotypic differences, formation of age groups differing in the duration of stay in the river (2 to 4 years), as well as early or late onset of smoltification.
