Reduction in the temperature of the air and moisture-bearing soils results in an increase in the moisture content in the frozen layer, a change in hydrophysical properties. Ice lenses and bands form in clays and loams, the stability of grounds and buildings at thawing is affected, leaching of suspended and dissolved matter intensifies.
