On the basis of investigation of the historical sources such as «Pistsovaya kniga Obonezhskih pogostov 1628/1629», materials in archives and museum depositories, the author traces the process of formation and evolution of the iconostasis «local» tier in the temples of the Obonezhje and the Western Pomorje historical regions during the 17th–18th centuries. Special attention has been paid to reflection of peculiarities of the folk Orthodox religion in adoration of the saints who were protectors of the peasant household and cattle, as well as to appearance and spreading of icons representing the founders of nothern monasteries.
