In the article, the characteristic of the statement of the tourism in the Russian Federation is given. The rating of Russia on the level of competitiveness of the tourist sector of the economy in the world is shown. The main problems concerning development of the tourism are enumerated. The ways to their resolve in the form of recommendations for the federal representative and executive powers are defined.
