The potential of the cultural-historical heritage of the Republic of Karelia for the cultural tourism is shown in the article. There are examples of the positive practice of the sphere of use of the cultural heritage sites in the tourism in the article as well. The role of documents of the territorial planning for the socio-economic development of a region based on tourism with involving the culturalhistorical heritage sites is exposed.
