Study of the biological activity of soils in potato cultivation
// Biodiversity of Fennoscandia (diversity, human impact, nature conservation). Petrozavodsk: Karelian Research Centre of RAS, 1997.
Growing specialization in the agriculture creates specific situation for soil microorganisms. Therefore the diversity of agronomically valuable microbe groups may serve as an important characteristics of ecological conditions for potato growth (N.A.Kalmykova et al. 1994, E.N.Mishutin 1972, N.A.Sandrak 1982).

The aim of the research is to study the effect of potato (potato, cereals, vegetables, perennial grasses) on the soil microflora.

The research results did not record "total" changes in the biological activity of the soils after the cultivation of the preceeding crop. However the deviations observed in the microbe-biochemical parameters are indicative of the rearrangements in the microbial community.

The research was based on the methods of biological soil diagnostics (Ju.G.Geltser, 1986).
