Conference with international participation, devoted to K. Arseniev ‘Problems of Economic Geography and Spatial Development Statistics’
The aim of the conference is to involve a wide range of experts from Russia and abroad in discussing the issues of regional and local socio-economic development, modern economic geography and spatial planning, improvement and promotion of regional and municipal statistics.

Background. The conference is biennial, honouring the memory of a prominent Russian economic geographer, statistician, and enthusiastic educationalist K. Arseniev (1789-1865). His versatile scientific activities and love to the City of Petrozavodsk and Karelia became a motivation for establishing a conference in memory of his scientific and public work and in recognition of his contribution to Russian and world science. The conference has beenheld in Petrozavodsk since 1995.

Conference participants. Scientists, specialists, professors and lecturers, legislators and administrators, NGOs, PhD students are invited to take part in the conference.

Main conference themes:
  • Economic geography issues related to administrative arrangement and its enhancement, economic zoning, spatial planning, and spatial arrangement of production facilities.
  • Spatial development statistics issues related to developments in statistical accounting, compatibility of statistical standards, development of regional statistics and establishment of municipal statistics.
