    6TH INTERNATIONAL YOUNG SCIENTISTS CONFERENCE WATER RESOURCES: RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT (WRRM)(SCHOOL AND WORKSHOP)


    Dear colleagues,

    We hereby invite you to take part in the 6th International Young Scientists Conference


    In 2010, NWPI KarRC RAS organized the 1st International Field School European Great Lakes Lake Onego. The event exposed the high significance of interactive information exchange in field research practices.
    In 2012, the 2nd International Field School European Great Lakes Lake Onego took place. This event, which has become regular, is an extension of the Institutes targeted work for training talented youth for a scientific career, carried out in collaboration with Russian and foreign higher educational institutions and research institutes.
    In 2013, the 3rd International Workshop Cross-border catchments: Finland and Russia the White Sea drainage basin was organized, including a field trip to the White Sea and a session for young scientists.
    In 2014, the NWPI Research and Education Centre, together with NWPI Young Scientists Council and RGS Division in the Republic of Karelia, organized the 4th International Youth Conference and School Seas, lakes and cross-border catchments of Russia, Finland and Estonia.
    In 2016, the conference and workshop were organized, and included keynote lectures by reputable scientists, oral and poster presentations by Master and PhD students and early career scientists, and provided opportunities for going on field trips to do sampling and instant assaying.

    The peculiarity of the international young scientists conference and school of 2020 is that it will be arranged in several stages through wide cooperation of scientific institutes and universities on the basis of previous experience of joint work.

    In addition to the conference itself, at which presentations will be delivered, also remotely (Skype presentations), and theoretical and applied issues will be addressed during several thematic sessions, there will be practical training sessions and master classes.

    VENUE AND TIME
    The Summer practice school will be held at the Northern Water Problems Institute, Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia (Pushkinskaya, 11) on September 1st to 2nd, 2020.

    The conference, arranged by the Northern Water Problems Institute, will take place at the Karelian Research Centre RAS, Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia (Pushkinskaya, 11) on September 3th to 5th, 2020.

    The Winter limnological practice schools (courses) will be held at the Lammi Biological Station of the University of Helsinki
    before the conference, on March 9-13, 2020
    and after the conference in March 2021.
    Further information about the winter limnological courses will be disseminated around October 2019.

    - water resources of the Eurasian region
    - cross-border waters
    - formation of inland water resources under human impact
    - response of waterbodies and their communities to climate change
    - sustainable water use, protection and management
    - modeling of hydrological and ecosystem-wide processes
    - formation process and current state of bioresources in large waterbodies
    - bioindication and biomonitoring, ecotoxicological assessment of waters

    - materials from the conference will be published on NWPI website (http://water.krc.karelia.ru/)
