KarRC RAS supports the idea of creating an integrated program for studying climate impact in the Arctic

The discussion focused on interactions between academics and authorities regarding Arctic studies, which is one of the priority areas for the Karelian Research Centre.

Scientists suggest creating a geopark network incorporating all of Karelia’s geological attractions

The Institute of Geology KarRC RAS has developed a project to create a network of geoparks in Karelia. Scientists are convinced that the republic's geological attractions are a "new mineral resource," and a renewable one: they can serve the tourism, recreation, education, and economic purposes. The prospects for creating such a network were presented by Sergey Svetov, Director of the Institute of Geology, at the closing of the "Stone Chronicle of Karelia" project, within which scientists familiarized with the republic's residents with the geological past and present of our region.
