The level of plasma tumor necrosis factor alpha in healthy and hypertensive subjects depending on the genotype of -308G>A polymorphic marker of TNF gene was investigated. The significant increase in plasma levels of this cytokine in patients with essential hypertension (EAH) was shown. The level of TNFa in the control group with different genotypes for the marker under study did not differ. The level of this protein in hypertensive patients with GG genotype was higher than in other genotypes carriers. The association of -308G>A polymorphic marker TNF gene with the development of EAH (I-II stage) in Russian Karelia residents was not detected.
