The two-kilometer coastal zone of Lake Onego is exposed to much more intensive anthropogenic load than the rest of the drainage basin. More than 80% of the catchment’s human population live in this coastal zone and about 95% of catchment-total water consumption is concentrated there. The paper describes the current state of economic management of water resources in the coastal zone ofLakeOnego, and the dynamics of water consumption and water disposal from 1980 until 2013.
