Русские мотивы в романе Челя Вестё «Мираж 38»
I.S. Matashina. Russian motives in Kjell Westös roman "Mirage 38" // The conference "Bubrikh readings: a documented vernacular". 2020. Pp. 131-134
Keywords: Swedish literature in Finland, Kjell Westö, Soviet Union
The article analyzes the references to Russia and Russian culture found in the novel "Mirage 38" by the Swedish-speaking writer from Finland, Kjell Westö. The novel continues the line of depicting a closed environment, which has received the metaphorical name "cramped room", which is traditional for Finnish Swedish literature. At the same time, the distinguishing feature of this work is the combination of many plot lines. The writer puts together a complex mosaic of narrative, weaving in it references to Russia in the 19th and 20th centuries. Thanks to this kind of inclusions, not only does the narrative field of the work expand, but an attempt to describe the life of Finland’s neighboring state is made.
