The findings of hydrochemical analyses conducted 9 lakes situated within the Poltavsky Municipal District of Omsk Oblast are outlined. The purpose of the research study is to evaluate the chemical composition of the smaller lakes within the Poltavsky Municipal District of Omsk Oblast and define their ecological status. Water sampling occurred once only, in June – July 2019. The lakes under study are naturally originated, small aquatic bodies. A range of physical-chemical, morphometric, and mathematical-statistical techniques were applied during the field expeditions and in the course of the laboratory assessments. It was determined that the water in the sampled water bodies is characterized by a neutral to slightly alkaline reaction (pH 6.47 – 8.46). Based of the content cations and ions, all water bodies are classified into 3 categories (sulfate, chloride, and hydrocarbonate), and within 3 groups. Mineralization measures between 278.8 and 1070.0 mg/L. Given the salt content, the water in these water bodies is considered sweet water. Carbonate hardness predominates, with water hardness ranging from moderately hard to hard (3.4 – 7.4 mg‑eq/L). Permanganate oxidizability values varies from 10.3 to 22.6 mgO/L, suggesting contamination of the water bodies by the readily oxidizable organic and inorganic substances. Significant concentrations of ammonium ions in Lakes Karakata, Kolesnikova Balka, Mokroye, Sitnoye, and Kamyshovoye indicate penetration of the organic pollutants (fecal sewage, organic fertilizers, etc.) into these water sources. Water in most of the lakes is enriched with manganese ions, consistent with the geochemical characteristics of the aquatic systems in this geographical area. Notably, concentration of Mn in Lake Mokroye surpasses 10.0 mg/L, thus exceeding the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) for the household and urban water use by a factor of 100, and MPC for the water of commercial fishing importance by a factor of 1000.
