In organic montmorillonite complexes (OMC) new structural characteristics, physical and chemical properties are opening. OMC combine affirmative characteristics of the clay minerals and organic compounds. In this article we show that the process of the OMC formation includs several stages: inorganic cations substitution with the destruction of the initial hydration ionic interlayers and organic cations absorption; polymeric associates formation on the silicate layer basal surface; formation of the new particles-crystallites, in which connecting-link serve organic associates.
We explore the OMC microparticles-crystallites structure by the method of electronic microdiffraction. The method of xray structure analysis shows structural changes, which come out of modification clays by organic compounds. Thermal methods show the decreasing of the organic bentonites sorption on the water accordingly the increasing of their hydrophobic properties. This article shows the possibility of organic bentonites producing from the interior quality clays, which structure also consist of alkali-earth exchange cations. This is realized by moving up them into the active Na-form with the next saturation by organic highmolecular compounds with the length of hydrocarbon chain more than ten.
