Раннедокембрийские кратоны: глобальные корреляции, к перспективам алмазоносности Карельского региона

The similarity of the Karelian and Superior cratons is shown on the basis of the authors's data and the literature and the concepts of the Early Precambrian evolution of the cratons discussed in more detail by the author. Global analysis indicates the spatial antagonism of diamondiferous regions and cratons in which greenstone belts with Kambalda-type komatiites occur, which is due to the distinctive thermal and geodynamic melting regime of the latter. The absence of Late Archean extremely hightemperature magmatism in the Karelian craton has an unfavourable effect on evaluation of the Kambalda-type coppernickel ore potential of the region. At the same time, this fact is an additional regional factor favourable for Karelia's diamond potential. New fundamental characteristics, revealed in Early Precambrian evolution, offer new approaches to evaluation of the Karelian region's perspectives.
