Modern studies of the geological history of the Earth as part of the Cosmos are based on systemic analysis of the planet life from the protoplanetary cloud up to present. The studies are however largely philosophical, since factual data acquired from spacecraft, observations and physical experiments still have limited reliability and scope. The evolution of the bio- and noosphere, as well as of societies builds upon cyclic recurrence and periodicity, first of all, of geological processes, and obeys synergy laws, meaning that all events are interrelated. The authors analyze three types of cycles: galactic mega- and macrocycles, planetary and solar.
Galactic mega- and macrocycles reflect the dependence of the PRINCIPAL geological system – planet Earth at
large – on cosmic impacts, which factors are the period of the solar system's revolution around the galactic orbit, sinusoidal displacement of the system due to the cosmic gravitational pull on the Galaxy, encounters with spiral arms of the Galaxy (Sagittarius, Perseus, Orion, etc.).
Planetary cycles emerge due to the mutual inlfuence within the Earth – Moon system against the galactic cycle background. The additive effect of galactic and planetary cycles results in global tectonomagmatic events (rifting, supercontinent genesis, magma intrusions, etc.), formation of mineral deposits, cyclic recurrence of biological “revolutions”
(“skeletal”, “vegetative”, etc.) and so forth.
Solar cycles. Modern advancements in the study of cyclic processes in the solar activity have shown that they vary in duration. A 11.8 cycle (12 years on average) dominates, and coincides with the solar activity cycle, i.e. emergence of sun spots. The effects of solar cycles show most conspicuously in changes in the surface geological structures
(activation of tectonic events in the Principal collision zone of the Earth, fluidization in fault zones, changes in the ground and surface water levels, etc.), in the biosphere (variations in the size and composition of tree rings, mutations, etc.) and in the social sphere (wars, recessions and advances in the development of civilizations and nations, discoveries, etc.).
The monographic is meant for generalgeologists, teachers and students of natural sciences, as well as for all readers interested in the genesis and evolution of the Earth.
