The modern level of development of tourism as a sector of the economy in the Murmansk Oblast and factors contributing and restraining its development are analyzed in the article. The main problems in development of tourism in the region are revealed. The especial importance has the perspective tasks on the public support of tourism and enterprises of the tourist industry at the federal and regional levels of government.
