The structure of the national (ethnic) identity of the Karelian ethnic education evolved and changed under the effect of intricately interwoven historical, political, socioeconomic and ethnocultural factors. A peculiar role in its evolution belonged to language-related processes, as well as to the wide occurrence of inter-ethnic marriages.
