The paper is devoted to the issues of integration processes in border regions. Basing on the European experience, experience from Northwest Russia, as well as on the analysis of the results of ENPI CBC projects, integration processes have been classified by several parameters. According to the classification we assess utilization of the region’s potentials promoting each type of integration. Primary and secondary potentials are listed. The effects (economic, social, budgetary) of each type of integration for the region are named, and priority areas of the regional socio-economic policy are suggested, aiming to maximize the effects of the integration.
