Anomalous concentration of radionuclide Cesium-137 was discovered in soil samples, which had typical appearance of casting waste, taken from a by-lane “Avtoljubitelei” in an uninhabited part of Petrozavodsk. According to an agreement signed between Petrozavodsk city administration and Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre of RAS, soil samples were taken from the sites contaminated with Cesium-137 to make analytical analysis. On the basis of the results of analysis conclusions have been made concerning the possible source of the casting waste contaminated with Cesium-137.
