The main points of the debates organized by Prof. V.M. Izoitko in the «Mekhanobr» Institute and published in the «Obogashchenije rud» Journal some years ago are briefly considered in the paper. The author's point of view is that recent
mineralogy (technological mineralogy as well) needs a theoretical background of the rock (ore) space. It can be created in terms of mathematical statistics at the basement of such fundamental conceptions as topological, metrical and partly ordered spaces.
