The possible use of soapstone from the Kostomuksha greenstone structure as a filler added to local clay for construction ceramics was studied. Samples of basic rock varieties, differing in mineral composition, were taken from drill cores at Ozerki-1 prospect. The mechanical strength of ceramics at 1050оС is contributed to by the presence in the crock of fine pyroxene grains, such as clinoenstatite and subcalcium augite, that enforce the glass phase. Basic soapstone varieties from the Kostomuksha greenstone structure and tremolite-chlorite schist were found to be potential raw materials for construction ceramics.
