The methodological problems concerning improvement of the strategic planning in the tourism sphere are investigated in the article on the example of the tourism development management in the Republic of Karelia. Implementations of innovative, scientificbased approaches allow to enhance effectiveness of the public tourism regulation system, to provide the intensive tourism development compared with another industries.
