The issues concerning development of tourism in municipalities of the Republic of Karelia on the example of the Pryazhinsky national municipal area are examined in the article. It is paid an especial attention to mechanisms of the municipal management in the tourist sphere and main scientific approaches to elaboration of the municipal programs for development of tourism in the Republic of Karelia.
