On October 12, 2017 the Working Group on Nature Conservation operating under the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Finland on environmental cooperation had a meeting at the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The meeting particularly focused on the interactions between federal- and regional-subordination protected areas (PAs) in the framework of the international project “Green Belt of Fennoscandia”.

Participants on the Russian side included the delegation of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment with representatives of the Leningrad Region Committee on Natural Resources, Murmansk Region Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Leningrad Region PA Directorate, Republic of Karelia Ministry of Nature Use and Environment, Kostomukshsky Strict Nature Reserve, Karelian Research Centre RAS. The Finnish delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of the Environment of Finland, Finnish Forest Administration, Finnish Environment Institute, research institutions.

KarRC RAS was represented at the meeting by its Acting President Olga Bakhmet.
