KarRC RAS Learned Council resumes work after the summer break

KarRC RAS Learned Council held its first meeting after the summer break. Scientists heard and discussed issues of relevance to the Centre. The scientific agenda was about the results of studies in hydrophysics and geology, and the administrative agenda was about the CEO change at the Forest Research Institute and "Transactions of KarRC RAS" getting a level-1 listing on the White List of scientific journals. The meeting also featured a ceremony for handing in diplomas to doctoral school graduates.

Scientists at KarRC RAS develop instruments for science and industry

Staff of the Laboratory for Ecological Monitoring and Modeling at DMR KarRC RAS are developing instrumentation for their own research and for broad application in various industrial sectors. Their inventions include, in particular, granule and droplet size analyzers and a CO2 flux meter. On September 18-19, scientists took part in the All-Russian Forum Karelia 2025, where they explored tools for promoting their developments.

Republic of Karelia Branch of the Russian Geographical Society celebrates 80th anniversary

On September 25, 1945, the Presidium of the All-Union Geographical Society resolved to set up its branch in Karelia. Since then, the regional RGS Branch, guided by scientific principles and the goals of geographical education, has implemented hundreds of projects in the republic. Throughout its history, the Branch has closely cooperated with the Karelian Research Centre RAS.

Scientists invite nature lovers to take part in bird population monitoring

Ornithologists at KarRC RAS are recruiting volunteers to participate in monitoring bird populations in Karelia and the Leningrad Region. Avian populations, including those of rare species, are undergoing change. To track its scope and understand its causes, it is necessary to regularly conduct bird counts at the same locations and using the same methodology. The denser the transect network, the more effective the observations. Nature enthusiasts can lend a helping hand to scientists and contribute to this large-scale research.
