The study was carried out on industrial territories of OAO «Karelsky Okatysh» (Russia, Republic of Karelia, Kostomuksha). The most contaminated substrates were in central quarries and tailing dump, but it was expected that their agrochemical properties can provide phytoremediaton plants by nutrients elements. As phytoremediaton plants the cuttings of Salix schwerinii E.Wolf (Finland) were used. Plants were planted on the most contaminated territories of tailing dump (exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations of Ni, Cr, Cu and low N-content). Based on results of measurements sampled plants were divided into two groups: 1. – with high production of biomass (HBP) and 2. – with low production of biomass (LBP). The groups had differences in the places of heavy metals localization: HBP plants accumulated them in the roots, and LBP plants–in the leaves. According to the value of biological absorption coefficient there is the following row of heavy metals accumulation in the whole plant Zn>Mn>Cd>Cu>Pb>Co>Ni=Cr>Fe. The climatic conditions and pollution of the territory of «Karelsky Okatysh» appropriate for the technology of using of species Salix schwerinii as phytoremediaton plants.
